It's been a productive November! We hosted our first two qué pasa events since summer and finished up some deep funk that will hit your ears in December. Our new radio de nadas are available now and we ended the month with a trip to Barcelona to see Thundercat and of course, buy some records!

Two years ago in a hotel room in Kerala, India we launched East Records with the dodgiest of internet connections. The aim was to release our music, give Edinburgh bands a different avenue with which to release theirs and eventually work with artists from all over the world. 2 years on and still without a reliable internet connection we are 8 albums in, we have a weekly radio show (de nada) and two live events a month (qué pasa). We have been across the world searching out the best records, in Edinburgh we hosted our first qué pasa Edinburgh with incredible support from our favourite bands / friends and in moving to Valencia we have found that music and art in general is thriving all over the world.
The musicians and artists we work with are constantly creating and in this spirit it is easy for us to feel inspired. Apparently the 'music business' is difficult but the kind words/support/encouragement we have had from people has kept us on the up! Over the last two years we hope we have championed local and international artists and shown off what Edinburgh (and now Valencia) has to offer, ...and it's just the beginning.
As we enter our terrible two's we aim to be funkier, louder and more challenging than ever before.
When Hobbits celebrate their birthday they buy everyone in the Shire a present, so in this spirit we offer you all a present. The first album from East and West Rendezvous is now free to download (pay what you want)! Download it, listen to it, tell your friends, let the world know about East Records!

A peek at some of our recent finds in Lisboa. Expected to buy a lot more Brazilian records (the bins only seemed to have 80s Brazil), but came away with a lot of Portuguese and African. Best digging was found at Feira da Ladra market but the prices ain't cheap!
Great music on all of these and the artwork doesn't disappoint either (check out that handmade cover on the Quintessence record, straight from a 70s Portuguese commune, maybe).
Clips below of each, all will be getting a spin on May 14th at our next ''qué pasa'' en Valencia.
¡Thanks to everyone that came to the first ''Qué Pasa'' in Monterey Pub! It was a night full of beautiful music (live and recorded) and beautiful people. ¡Our next event will be in May!
For now we leave you with a small taster of our first night, enjoy!
We had 7 artists play 3 songs each for our first ''qué pasa'' night in Valencia. A video of them all will be with you soon but for now here is a little teaser.
Our next ''qué pasa'' night will be coming to you in May at Monterey Pub (Calle Museo).
Thanks to the Monterey House Band, Iker, Melis, Nando, QuiQue, Graham and Somoscuatro for their April performances!

Is the White Album John Lennon's best effort post Revolver? Is it Lennon's lost masterpiece that was watered down and surrounded by lesser material?
If you are tired of skipping or picking up the needle when it comes to the White Album give this a spin.

¡Hello to the wider record buying community of the world!
Over on our Instagram we have started selling some of our duplicate finds. Valencia and Spain's record crates are overflowing with treasures that aren't so easy to come across in Edinburgh (or Britain in general...) so we are putting any duplicates we come across up for sale!
¿Want to get involved? Just direct message us on Instagram, leave us a comment or send us an email! We can post to anywhere. First up for sale is an original Spanish pressing of Rare Earth's breakbeat / long freakout instrumental sections classic, Get Ready. The only white guys singed to Motown etc. If you like Motown combined with breakbeat drums, bass solo, drum solo, sax solo, organ solo then come get it!
Our instagrams are @east_records and @east__vibes
As a label founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, launched from India/Thailand and currently living in Valencia, Spain we like to think of ourselves as fairly international! Our record collection is certainly of the World and we were happy to see that in the last year we were played all over the world!
Thank you from sunny Valencia!
We started off the New Year in the best way possible, by making an album with a brand new group! All recorded to 2-inch 24 track Reel to Reel.
East and West Rendezvous is the band and their (our) first album was recorded in a one-day session. They are influenced by electric Miles Davis, Parliament/Funkadelic, Santana, Pink Floyd, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and all fusion from the late 60s and 70s.
The band's lineup consists of Jack Burns and Murray Pettit from The Green Tambourine Band with Fraser Johnston and Oli Entwisle (both are to be featured on East Records in different guises). The record is to be released in the early Spring of 2017.
